Alvin Hill, North Quad Technology Coordinator
Alvin Hill is a technology based artist whose work combines sound, projection, light, and DJ arts. He studied classical violin and piano from the age of four, then shifted his focus towards technology while completing his BA at Dartmouth College, where he studied electro-acoustic composition with Jon Appleton. He earned his Masters in Media Arts from the University of Michigan. Alvin has composed scores and media for, and performed live with dance companies throughout the US, including Amy Cova Dance, Arachne Aerial Arts, Brown Dance Project, Chavasse Dance and Performance, Koichi Tamano & Harupin-Ha, and The Playground. He has performed at the Alvin Ailey Theater (NY), the Cranbrook Science Center (MI), the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts (D.C.), and also had an installation at the Smithsonian (D.C.) as part of their Nam June Paik exhibit. Alvin has taught classes in multimedia performance at the University of Michigan and Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.
Jacklyn Thomas, North Quad Programming Assistant
Jacklyn Thomas is an undergraduate student studying History with a minor in Political Science and Art & Design at the University of Michigan. As NQ Programming Assistant, Jacklyn designs the promotional material for events that are put on in the North Quad Spaces, as well as helps in the planning and execution of those events. In her free time Jacklyn works for a few student publications including The Michigan Daily and SHEI magazine, providing design work.
Programming Advisory Committee
The North Quad Programming Advisory Committee is comprised of staff and faculty from all programs and departments in the North Quad building. The Committee meets regularly to provide support and guidance regarding policy implementation, the shared spaces reservation process, and collaborative programming initiatives.
